Family Guy creator Seth MacFarlane based the show’s fictional hometown on Rhode Island, where he grew up and attended the Rhode Island School of Design. Even the name “Quahog” comes from a hard-shell clam that’s closely associated with New England.
It’s one of the coolest hidden details behind Family Guy—and proof that some of the best fictional worlds are inspired by real ones.
